![]() I took the vehicle into Mercedes Benz of Naperville with instructions to change the #2 fuel injector. ![]() (except when the ECU shuts down the cylinder while idling after a misfire is thrown, restarting the car clears the problem immediately) A compression check gave consistent numbers across all cylinders. ![]() Important to note is no smoke, lack of power, hesitation, etc. The temperature range from 60 degress down to about 20 degrees didn't seem to change the frequency (about 3-4 times a week with 2 25 miles trips each day on average) to which the problem occured. This code was only logged at idle (the misfire never occurs under high rpm's/loads) and more prevalent after being on the highway and coming to a stop at a light shortly after exiting. I did this work over the course of the past two months, and the only code that was logged was the p-0302. I also inspected the cabling/connectors to the coil pack, no sign of problems.ģrd: As a matter of course, I replaced the fuel filter - not expecting any major change as typically this would effect all cylinders - but thought maybe the #2 injector was more sensitive then the others. I dropped a OBDC memory card to log/report the speed of the engine and any trouble codes that came on, then proceeded to start to replace the usual suspects:ġst: I changed all four spark plugs (oem plugs used, none of the plugs pulled had any fouling issues or abnormal wear)Ģnd: I swapped the coils between cylinder 2 and 3 to see if the problem followed the coil, it did not. Restarting the car cleared the rough idle, with the CEL still on (occasionally it will go through a drive cycle and clear the CEL, but only every once in awhile). I checked the codes and it reported a p-0302 (cylinder 2 misfire). I own a 2003 c230 with about 80k (about 60% highway, lifetime average of 45mph) and about 4 months ago the check engine light came on and the car started idling roughly. I wanted to run this by the senior guys here, and see what the thoughts were.
